James Cameron’s epic science fiction film, Avatar: Fire and Ash, is set for a worldwide release on December 19th, 2025. As promotions begin in India, many are surprised to see acclaimed director SS Rajamouli leading the efforts.

Previously, there were rumors that James Cameron himself would be involved in promoting Rajamouli’s upcoming film, Varanasi. Speculation suggested Cameron would unveil a glimpse of Varanasi and attend a major promotional gathering, but these plans did not materialize.

Cameron, who was anticipated to be in India for Avatar’s promotions, is currently unavailable. Instead, Rajamouli is championing Avatar’s release. There is a possibility that Rajamouli could secure Cameron’s support for Varanasi’s global promotions in the future.

Rajamouli has already seen Avatar: Fire and Ash and expressed his excitement about the movie. During Avatar’s promotional discussions, Cameron mentioned his anticipation for Varanasi. He stated, “Well, if I can reciprocate, when your new film is coming out to market, I would love to have a word with your team,” also adding his desire to visit Rajamouli’s set one day.

The next films in the series, Avatar 4 and Avatar 5, are currently in different production stages. They are scheduled for release in 2029 and 2031, respectively.
