Japan’s box office is becoming a significant market for Tollywood films, with increasing demand for Telugu cinema. Japanese viewers showed great affection for our actors after SS Rajamouli’s hit film RRR performed exceptionally well. While Devara and Kalki 2898AD did not attract as much interest, industry watchers feel leading Telugu stars can still generate excitement in Japan’s theaters.

Now, pan-India star Allu Arjun is ready to make an impact on the Japanese box office with his successful crime drama, Pushpa 2: The Rule. Reports indicate the sequel will open across Japan on January 16th. The first Pushpa film was not released in Japan, but the team is now planning a wide release for the follow-up, given its worldwide popularity.

Although only small parts of Pushpa 2 were filmed in Japan, the story has a key link to Tokyo. The narrative begins with the main character’s conflict against rivals at Yokohama port, with a flashback explaining his journey there. This connection offers a strong chance for Japanese audiences to engage with the movie. If Allu Arjun visits Japan for promotions, Pushpa 2 will certainly gain a significant advantage.

Sukumar directed Pushpa 2, which became one of Indian cinema’s biggest successes, earning approximately 1800 Crores globally. All eyes are on its box office results in Japan. If the film achieves substantial earnings, Allu Arjun’s international standing will rise even higher.
