Thaman Breaks The Silence On Sound Mixing Trolls
Music director Thaman recently spoke out about criticism during promotions for his new film, Akhanda 2. Unlike its predecessor, the second part of the movie received mixed reactions. Some viewers reported that speakers in certain theaters were malfunctioning due to poor upkeep. Thaman shared his view on these problems.
For a while, people have complained that Thaman’s film music often has high sound levels and poor mixing. He frequently faces criticism and online mockery for this. Thaman addressed these concerns in a recent interview, stating the problem lies with the speakers, not his work.
He explained, “Many theaters recently updated their screens and projectors. However, in numerous locations, the speakers have not been replaced.” He asserted, “The fault is not mine.”
Thaman added that after his mixing is complete, several quality checks occur. These include sound checks by authorized personnel from the Dolby company. He clarified that he is not the ultimate decision-maker for mixing and decibel levels.
He emphasized the need for theatres to maintain their audio equipment. “If the speakers were truly blowing out due to my mixing, it would happen in all theaters,” he pointed out. “The issue appears only in specific venues where the speakers are not properly maintained.”
