Dhurandhar’s box office performance is currently the main subject of discussion within film trade circles. Director Aditya Dhar, known for URI, returns after six years with his second feature, starring Ranveer Singh. The movie premiered in cinemas on Friday, December 5. Despite a quiet start, Dhurandhar has since become a significant box office phenomenon.
The movie began its run with ₹28 crore nett from North India, concluding its first week with nearly ₹210 crore nett. This impressive initial momentum paved the way for an even stronger second week. Dhurandhar gathered approximately ₹260 crore nett during its second week. This figure not only exceeds its first-week earnings but also marks an all-time record for a second week in North India. It moved past the prior record set by Pushpa 2, which collected around ₹200 crore nett in its second week, establishing a clear lead.
Now in its third week, Dhurandhar has surpassed ₹500 crore nett and continues its robust performance. Even with Avatar: Fire and Ash releasing on December 19, its effect on Dhurandhar is predicted to be minimal. Looking ahead to the Christmas and New Year holidays, and with no major Hindi films scheduled, the movie is projected to comfortably reach ₹600 crore nett, with a good chance of hitting ₹700 crore. It is also positioned to become the year’s top earner, possibly outperforming Kantara: Chapter 1. We are waiting to see if it can achieve the ₹1,000 crore gross milestone.
Remarkably, Dhurandhar has accomplished this success solely with its Hindi version. Following the pattern of many significant box office hits, Telugu audiences have expressed interest, leading to considerable demand for a Telugu dubbed release.
Jyoti Deshpande, Aditya Dhar, and Lokesh Dhar produced Dhurandhar through Jio Studios and B62 Studios. The cast includes Ranveer Singh, Akshaye Khanna, R. Madhavan, Arjun Rampal, Sanjay Dutt, Sara Arjun, and Rakesh Bedi. Manav Gohil, Danish Pandor, Saumya Tandon, and Gaurav Gera also appear in important roles.
