Mega brother Naga Babu has issued a strong response to actor Shivaji’s recent comments. The entire cinema community is currently debating Shivaji’s repeated assertion that his intention is right in asking every girl to wear a saree at public events. This statement sparked a significant discussion, and Naga Babu’s reaction is expected to introduce a political dimension to the ongoing conversation.
Naga Babu took a firm stance, criticizing the concept of moral policing. He affirmed that an individual’s clothing choice is a basic right protected by the Indian Constitution. “Women’s choice of clothing is a personal right. Moral policing goes against the Constitution,” he stated. He added, “These days, everyone, from the uneducated to scholars, and actors like Shivaji, are busy telling women what to do, which is both unnecessary and unconstitutional.”
He repeatedly highlighted that Indian courts have declared moral policing unconstitutional because it violates core fundamental rights. Naga Babu believes that actions judging or limiting a woman’s attire infringe upon essential freedoms guaranteed by Article 14 (Equality), Article 19 (Freedom), and Article 21 (Right to Life and Personal Liberty) of the Constitution. He concluded, “Freedom, dignity, privacy, and equality are not just legal terms; they are rights supported by the judiciary.”
Many people are commending Naga Babu’s strong position. This contrasts with the criticism faced by others, such as Chinmayi and Anasuya, who have been targeted for labeling Shivaji’s comments as absurd.
