Popular Telugu YouTuber Anvesh, known for his travel vlogging channel “Na Anveshana,” has encountered significant trouble following recent controversial remarks. While criticizing actor Shivaji for suggesting heroines should wear sarees at public events for safety, Anvesh himself made some highly offensive comments.
Anvesh initially released a video containing derogatory statements aimed at both Shivaji and spiritual speaker Garikapati Narasimha Rao. In the same video, he also spoke disrespectfully about revered Hindu mythological characters, including Draupadi. He later uploaded an apology video, where he defended his actions, stating that referring to the Mahabharata’s Draupadi Vastrapaharana incident as a “rape scene” was not a major issue.
Reports indicate that complaints are being filed against Anvesh across various regions. The social media reaction has been particularly strong, leading to him losing nearly 300,000 subscribers on both YouTube and Instagram in a very short period. Many social media users are accusing him of offending religious sentiments and promoting disrespectful content, actively trending hashtags such as #BanNaaAnveshana.
Content creators certainly bear a responsibility to act with care, and accountability stands as a primary expectation, much like in the situation involving actor Shivaji. Making light of mythology and causing offense to religious sentiments is unacceptable, even when presented as constructive criticism. The YouTuber should recognize this fundamental principle.
The rapid loss of a significant follower base and the widespread public outcry highlight the serious repercussions content creators face when their remarks cross ethical and cultural boundaries. This incident serves as a clear reminder of the impact online personalities have and the importance of thoughtful communication.
