Sankranthi 2026 is shaping up to be a busy period for major theatrical releases, but Nandamuri Balakrishna has quietly introduced an additional festive offering. His much-anticipated film, Akhanda 2, originally launched in cinemas last December, is now poised to make a significant return.
Reports indicate that Boyapati Sreenu’s Akhanda 2 is scheduled for digital streaming starting January 9, 2026. With other Sankranthi films such as Raja Saab, Mana Shankar Varaprasad Garu, Bhartha Mahaseyulaku Wignyapthi, and Anaganaga Oka Roju heading to theaters, Balakrishna’s Akhanda 2 on OTT will cater to viewers who prefer watching movies at home.
During the Sankranthi festival, families often gather at home, making it an ideal time for them to enjoy films from their living rooms. Despite receiving unfavorable reviews, Akhanda 2 performed strongly at the box office, largely due to its appeal in mass centers and Balakrishna’s significant star power. With its upcoming OTT release, the film is likely to become a popular choice on streaming platforms.
Currently, Akhanda 2 continues its run in theaters. However, its theatrical presence is expected to conclude once the full slate of new Sankranthi films arrives.
