Reports about actor Akshaye Khanna leaving the Hindi adaptation of Drishyam 3 continue to generate discussion daily.
The most recent speculation suggests he asked for close to ₹21 crores for the part. This demand is reportedly why he left, especially after the huge success of ‘Dhurandar’ at the box office, where his portrayal of Rahman Dakait earned significant praise.
Abhishek Pathak, director of Bollywood’s Drishyam 3, shared that Akshaye Khanna declined the film because he wanted to wear a wig, similar to his look in Dhurandhar. However, in earlier installments, he appeared without one, leading the director to reject this request. Pathak also clarified that while Akshaye did ask for a substantial amount, he did not confirm the ₹21 crore figure, adding that they had agreed upon and finalized a different number.
The director confirmed that Akshaye Khanna had already received a significant payment and signed Drishyam 3 even before ‘Dhurandhar’ premiered in the first week of December. Now, however, he wishes to withdraw from the project. Given the recognition Akshaye gained from the Ranveer Singh-directed film, it’s likely he believes a solo lead or a major movie role would benefit his career more than a smaller character in Drishyam 3.
The Drishyam franchise stars Ajay Devgan, Tabu, and Shriya Saran in important roles.
These ongoing discussions highlight the latest in Bollywood news, focusing on Akshaye Khanna, Drishyam 3, and the box office impact of ‘Dhurandhar’.
