Anasuya’s Strong Retort: “Our Worth Comes From Choices”

The controversy surrounding actor Shivaji’s remarks on heroines’ attire, made under the guise of offering protection, continues to escalate. Shivaji apologized for his choice of words but maintained his stance, claiming good intentions. However, his comments have not been well-received.

Shivaji suggested that figures like Anasuya and Chinmayi were influenced by social media posts, questioning Anasuya’s involvement in the discussion. In response, Anasuya shared a lengthy message on social media. She stated that many men and women fear losing control over women and are upholding a patriarchal ego.

“Some men, and even some women, are attempting to diminish me and make me feel inferior by using my age,” she wrote. Anasuya explained that individuals with this mindset often target progressive women, driven by a fear of losing control and a desire to maintain a fragile patriarchal ego. She appealed to everyone, emphasizing that all individuals are equal. “We do not have to carry forward the ideas or habits that previous generations learned or became accustomed to,” she added.

Anasuya affirmed that people can choose to change, safeguard their dignity and freedom, and support one another. She concluded her message by stating, “Our worth comes from our choices, not from anything else.”

She urged media outlets to act responsibly, requesting that they refrain from celebrating those who speak negatively about women and their decisions.

The ongoing discussion highlights important themes of women’s empowerment, gender equality, and the evolving discourse within Telugu cinema.
