Watch: Gulte’s Debutant Diaries With Psych Siddhartha Director
Nandu’s upcoming movie, Psych Siddhartha, introduces director Varun Reddy, whose journey into filmmaking is quite distinctive. Before directing, Varun worked as an architect in Bangalore. His early life in Hyderabad greatly influenced his creative ideas. This mix of technical background and cultural exposure prepared him for creating stories that connect with many people. His move into films became serious after he studied screenwriting and completed a filmmaking program at Annapurna Film School.
Varun believes that every film truly comes alive during the editing stage. He often mentions directing with the final cut already in his thoughts. His editor, Pratik, plays an important part in this process, as they often rework scenes in the editing room based on feedback and fresh concepts. Music director Smaran Sai is another important collaborator; Varun describes him as his partner, noting that their combined sound and editing styles give the movie its distinct energy.
A central principle guides his creative approach: any necessary change must be a significant improvement over the original. This uncompromising standard, he explains, pushes the entire team to elevate their work to the highest possible level.
Psych Siddhartha is set to release on December 12. Varun Reddy assures audiences that Nandu’s film will offer a compelling and creatively rich movie experience, crafted with careful attention and passion.
