DJ Tillu Star Siddhu Jonnalagadda Shifts to New Comedy Film

Published on:

Actor Siddhu Jonnalagadda established a strong presence with the hit film DJ Tillu, even adopting the nickname ‘Starboy’. However, subsequent star successes have not followed. His recent back-to-back projects, including Jack and Telusu Kadha, have negatively impacted his box office standing. So, what is his next move?

Previously, Siddhu Jonnalagadda announced an action entertainer titled Badass, to be directed by Ravikanth Perepu, known for Kshanam and Bubblegum. This hero-director pair had previously delivered Krishna and his Leela, a film that helped define the actor’s career. Later, as action films proved less successful for him, the story and title for this project were changed, though Ravikanth Perepu remained as director.

Ravikanth was also slated to direct Kohinoor, a pan-India film starring Siddhu, which was to be produced by Naga Vamsi’s Sithara Entertainment. Following the significant box office failure of Telusu Kada, Siddhu reportedly decided to pursue a comedy film instead of a thriller or action project.

Producer Naga Vamsi recently confirmed that both these earlier movies are now shelved and are not expected to move forward anytime soon. Instead, Siddhu will be collaborating with RJ Swaroop, the director of Agent Sai Srinivas Athreya, on a comic actioner designed to be highly entertaining for audiences.

This new direction for the ‘Starboy’ involves Siddhu Jonnalagadda, director RJ Swaroop (known for Agent Sai Srinivas Athreya), and producer Naga Vamsi’s Sithara Entertainments, focusing on an action-comedy for the Tollywood and Telugu cinema audience.
