Tollywood’s Christmas Box Office: Champion & Shambhala Lead

Published on:

The long Christmas weekend brought a significant boost to Tollywood, allowing smaller films to achieve considerable success despite initial discussions around them. These movies secured strong openings on December 25th, followed by respectable Day 2 collections, and are now poised for a profitable weekend.

Roshan Meka’s “Champion” is currently leading the pack, recognized for both its production scale and market position. The film accumulated an impressive ₹6.91 crores globally within its first two days. Although its title suggested a sports action drama, the movie surprised audiences by being a patriotic story centered on the Bhairanpalle incident. Despite receiving average reviews, “Champion” continues to perform well.

Following closely is Aadi Saikumar’s “Shambhala,” which had an excellent opening, marking a career best for the actor. It gathered approximately ₹5.9 crores gross in two days. This is a substantial total, and the film’s fictional fantasy theme is expected to bring in similar amounts over the next two days, as Saturday and Sunday are holidays for many. Meanwhile, the highly anticipated horror film “Eesha” earned around ₹3 crores gross in two days and may see a slight increase during the holiday period.

“Dhandora” was anticipated to be a surprise hit, but it struggled to maintain momentum. Negative sentiment surrounding actor Shivaji might have impacted the film’s prospects. Concurrently, “Pathang” received praise for its visuals and overall quality, yet its box office performance has been modest so far. The upcoming holidays could potentially reverse its fortunes. We are waiting to see how the Telugu box office ultimately treats these movies.

The Christmas weekend proved to be a mixed bag for Tollywood’s releases. While films like “Champion” and “Shambhala” found success, others faced challenges. The coming days will determine the final box office standing for all these holiday releases.
