BRS chief and former Chief Minister KCR seems to be finally breaking his two-year political silence. This period began after his party’s humiliating defeat in the 2023 elections, when the Congress party seized power with a slender majority.
Recent reports confirm KCR’s return to his Hyderabad Banjara Hills residence from his Yerravalli farm house on Sunday evening. This move comes just before the highly anticipated winter Assembly sessions, scheduled to begin on Monday. It marks the first time in two years that KCR has taken up permanent residence in Hyderabad.
KCR is expected to attend the Assembly as the Opposition leader. He will likely engage in intense discussions concerning Krishna and Godavari River waters, irrigation projects, and other vital state matters over the coming days. This will mark the first significant political confrontation between Revanth Reddy and KCR since the change of government.
Having largely stayed at his farm house for many months, KCR recently signaled his return to political engagement. He did this by holding a joint meeting of the BRS Legislature Party and State executive committee at Telangana Bhavan last Sunday afternoon.
This development sparked speculation within political circles regarding his presence at the upcoming Assembly sessions. His main political opponent, Revanth Reddy, also issued a direct challenge for him to attend the Assembly and debate various issues.
With KCR’s renewed activity, Telangana’s political climate is poised to intensify. The BRS party is expected to strongly criticize Revanth Reddy’s government regarding its two-year performance, likely leading to heated exchanges from both factions within the house.
